This Christmas Digital Escape® Room is an engaging Christmas activity for your students and disguise their learning with a fun activity while working on reading skills, literary terms, context clues, and other important middle school ELA skills.

Your students will explore literary and figurative devices, use context clues to figure out vocabulary words, read passages, and solve puzzles. There are 7 activities in this digital escape! (This escape room is developed for a 40-45 minute class.)

The Story: Can your students help free Twinkie the Elf from the Toy Box?

What are the positive aspects of a Digital Escape®?

*It is NO-PREP! There is nothing to make, print, cut, laminate, clues to hide, buy or locks to set.

*Everything is ready for your students on the Google Site!

*Students will encounter literary terms questions, a reading passage, figurative language identification, and vocabulary context clue questions.

*Your students will solve puzzles, cyphers, and clues to free the elf!

*All you have to do is share the link with your students or assign the link in GOOGLE Classroom.

*You can have your students complete this on Chromebooks, on an IPad or in a computer lab.

You want your students to have knowledge of figurative and literary devices, specifically: setting, protagonist, antagonist, dynamic character, theme, internal conflict, conflict, omniscient point of view, simile, metaphor, personification, idioms and hyperboles.

This Christmas/Winter Homophone Coloring Activity is perfect for reviewing homophones’ in fun and interactive way! Since the old pen and paper style can be rather mundane and boring, I tried to turn it into a review activity that is fun, colorful, and engaging!

In this Christmas/Winter Homophone Coloring Activity, your students will review the homophones: Their/There/They’re; Your/You’re/Yours; Except/Accept; Effect/Affect. When the students answer the question properly, they are instructed to color parts of the design in a specific color. Who doesn’t love to color?!?!?

This is great to assess your students right before the Christmas/Holiday break!

Christmas Creative Writing Activity

This Christmas Creative Writing Activity will be perfect for your students as they prepare for the holiday season. Most of us are familiar with Santa’s little helpers. Those cute, small elves not only make toys, but they are required to watch over the children, and make sure that they are behaving. If the children are naughty, the elves report back to Santa.

Each elf is designated to a child, and they move around houses quietly, checking on their children.

What happens if one of these devious elves told you the story of their evening and took pictures of their naughty doings? Your students will have a ball with this writing assignment!
