]]> This Motivational Quotations Analysis Activity is great for addressing one of the skills my middle school students struggle with most, which is critical thinking skills. Whether it is developmental or a metacognition skill (thinking about thinking), “thinking outside the box” is one of the most difficult abilities for middle school students to master. Therefore, it is important for students to practice analyzing texts to develop this skill.

This Motivational Quotations Analysis Activity works on two major skills: analyzing quotations and paraphrasing/summarizing.

This Motivational Quotations Analysis Activity contains 30 quotations that ask students to paraphrase or put the author’s words into their own thoughts. Because students’ paraphrasing can be lengthy, this product also teaches students how to condense their writing by funneling their thoughts into a two-sentence summary.

The quotations that are featured are extremely motivational; therefore, they will encourage and inspire your students to be and do their best!
